Psychology of skin - Why our 3 step Ink Care works

The psychology of skin in distress. "I wanted to create tattoo care that not only heals the tattoo without getting infected, but also heals the skin in a way that retains ink vibrancy, the integrity of fine tattoo lines and detailed art work for YEARS to come."
open jar of Sabine G Holistics Curator balm with marshmallow rot calendula and gold spoon.

I took an in depth view of stressed out skin to formulate this effective collection - approaching from a healers view on what occurs in the, mind and body when skin is tattooed. Lets face it, irrelevant of the excitement - even tattoo veterans experience an element of nervousness and elevated heart rate before and during the process. Learning what stressors are triggered, and what signals they send to the body, I created topical botanical remedies that not only nourish the skin but most importantly convince our bodies to accept the ink for life.

Skin, as the largest living and air breathing organ of our body, has 170 free nerve ending per square cm and its integral function is to protect the vulnerable organs underneath. Once poked with a tattoo needle, these nerves send messages to the brain to set all the white blood cells on high alert and immediately get to work to clean and close the wound as well as push out any foreign object that may have entered (creating the wet weeping of plasma you see). Now because cell have memory, your body may want to reject your tattoo long after the healing period is complete. Bodies can dispose of ink, and even piercings over a limitless period of time. Incorrect healing can be the cause of grey faded tattoos with blurry smudged lines, colour changes, tightness, scar tissue or completely faded and disappearing tattoos.

From this unique vantage point, our 3 step Inked For Life collection was born which:

Pure wash, Hydra mist and Curator tattoo balm with organic botanicals.
  • makes ink healing a pleasant experience due to the ease of application of the entire collection.

  • communicates to the skin receptors to calm down and embrace the ink

  • is anti-bacterial and anti-microbial

  • soothes and hydrates

  • protects the tattoo from outside dirt yet allows skin to breathe

  • is completely synthetic free and pH balanced

  • helps heal the skin in a correct pace to avoid raised lumps and white scarring

  • strengthens skin against UV and environmental stressors

Welcome to your 3 Step Ink Care

Step 1 Wash Pure Wash Cleansing Foam is a gentle, anti-microbial and pH balanced (of course) foam. Which will not sting or burn open skin like other soaps. On the contrary, it pumps out in a lush cooling foam which immediately soothes while it gently cleanses away all plasma, impurities and excess ink. Pure wash is recommended to be used on your fresh tattoos twice a day during your 2-4 weeks initial healing and thereafter as part of your usual daily cleanse.

Pure Wash Cleansing Foam:
  • Instant foaming pump of luxurious soft foam - no need to create a lather.

  • lifts impurities, plasma and excess ink.

  • Cools and soothes irritation and heat.

  • Moisturises without leaving a trace or coating behind.

  • Gentle enough to use immediately after tattooing.

Step 2 Hydrate

Awaken Hydra Mist spray alleviates itching and dryness with a no touch hydrating mist. Infused with Colloidal Silver, Helichrysum S and Rose water to calm redness, assist in cell regeneration and kill any bacteria or infections before they arise. Awaken can be spritzed over healing and scabbing tattoos as many times as you need to keep skin hydrated. Colloidal Silver is known as a powerful wound healer.

Awaken Hydra Mist:
  • Easy application with touchless fine spreading hydrating mist.

  • hydrates healing dry scabs alleviating itch and redness.

  • Colloidal silver anti-microbial properties speed up healing.

  • Organic hydrosols deeply nourish with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
